Luke* lost his job in the pandemic but he had direct debits going out for his bills, a car loan and credit card debt. He didn't know what to do, or how to pay his rent.
He gave Citizens Advice North Lancashire a call on our Adviceline and we were able to talk to Luke about his situation and refer him to a debt worker who was able to help him work out how to manage his debts and to communicate with the people he owed money to.
They worked with Luke in detail about his income and his outgoings and helped him to draw up a monthly budget and to reduce his expenditure by changing suppliers, changing his mobile phone provider and making sensible cuts to his outgoings where possible.
Luke now has a repayment plan for his debts and has applied for benefits to maximise his income while he looks for another job.
